Stan Lee almost quit the comics business but thanks to some advice from his wife gave it one last try. He created the Fantastic Four a comic as he wanted it to be and comics have never been the same since.
1. Stanley Lieber, New Yorker
Stan did have a hard upbringing. His family was poor so he would keep busy using his imagination and drawing his own comics. He would spend lots of time reading. He yearned for something larger than life that would lead to fame and wealth.
2. Teenage Editor
Stan started working at Timely Comics as an assistant to Joe Simon and Jack Kirby it paid eight dollars a week.
Lee first wrote Captain America in 1941 and here is were he started going by Stan Lee.
Lee co-created the Destroyer a highly successful character, his first of many creations.
3. Army Playwright
In 1942 Lee joined the Signal Corps of the United States military. He got to work with some other great artists and writers. While serving Lee still worked for Timely writing comics.
4. Return to Marvel
The popularity of comics does go up and down and the subject matter changes all depending on what people want.
5. Public Enemy Number One
A group of people decided to try to have comics banned as they considered them indecent.
Than Lee, Kirby and Ditko ended up working together.
6. Birth of the New Hero: The Fantastic Four
Lee and Kirby created the Fantastic Four and, Lee's writing and Kirby's art made this team a success. These two working together were great or even fantastic. The Fantastic Four rejuvenated the comic book industry.
7. Spidey Saves the Day!
With Spidey Lee broke the fourth wall. He also created one of comics most beloved characters. Stan Lee took a chance and it paid off.
8. Horde of Superheroes
Here we get a look at Lee and Kirby creating the Incredible Hulk. Next Lee creates Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Thor, Ant-Man, Wasp all marvels. Team comics such as the Avengers and X-Men were created as well.
Both the writers and artists of comics were always being pushed to work fast to meet deadlines.
The middle of this book is full of old photographs of Stan Lee. The photos also show him in his many cameo's from TV and film.
9. Marketing the Marvel Universe
Stan Lee marketed himself well through the Bullpen's printed in the back of Marvel comics. In 1968 Lee feared Marvel might shut down. The business side of things most times does take precedence over the creative side of things.
10. Creating an Icon
Comic Books were firmly planted in American culture and Lee became the face and voice of Marvel Comics. Lee became a celebrity.
11. Marvel's Multitude of Maladies
Marvel did come close to folding and going bankrupt. Lee keeps thinking that he could be doing more. One thing you notice is that Lee is always a very busy man.
12. Lure of Hollywood
TV and movies are influencing comic books. So Lee becomes part of the shows and movies. Many cartoons and real life shows were made and many of them fizzled out. In 1989 Lee had been with Marvel for fifty years, Lee was Marvel.

Here we get a peek at the financial situation of the company. Plus the fact that Stan Lee is a still going strong.

Well Stan's partner in this business venture was not a man to be trusted and that is what Stan did.
Lee never stops going and going. He has been a part of so many projects. He is a creator and idea man first and foremost.

Stan Lee is a loved person by all his fans world wide. He is always creating.

Stan Lee is heroic. He has become a icon.
This book delivers a well researched and well written story full of information about Stan Lee. Stan Lee was and is and always will be "The Man"!
