Kambrea Pratt
Co-Creator/Writer for Shadowbinders
Interviewed by: Richard Vasseur/Jazma VP
Posted: 08/01/2012

Rich: What is the basic story outline of "Shadowbinders"?

Kambrea: A teenage girl from our world (Mia) is accidentally transported to a steampunk-esque world after her Grandmother gives her a journal and ring. There she meets a mage named Crimson Rhen and the crew of his ship, The True North. There are strange happenings in Rhen's world and they are just discovering them.

Rich: Who are the main characters of the story?

Kambrea: Mia- She is a teenage girl from our world. She can cross between the two worlds with a magical ring.
Crimson Rhen- He is the captain of the True North (an airship he inherited from his father) He is a mage and very self confident and cocky.
Winston the Feeb- Has been a very popular character. He is a Feeb and has been with Rhen's family for generations.
Elaina- The mysterious female crew member. Rhen is often hitting on her.
Tristan- Rhen's 1st mate and best friend. He and Rhen have been friends since childhood. Tristan is an inventor and makes modifications to the "North" often.
Of course we have our villians: Sid the Black, Marek, and Ava. Ava has just recruited Sid to work for Marek.

Rich: What are the differences and similarities of the two worlds?

Kambrea: Differences- Well one major difference is magic. It exists in the other world but not in our own. The technology is also very different. We don't see airships flying around here.

Rich: What genre is this comic?

Kambrea: It could fit into several genres. We have some Steampunk elements, Mecha elements, Fantasy elements, Slice of Life elements.

Rich: Would you like to visit the worlds of Shadowbinders?

Kambrea: Of course! I would LOVE to see real airships. I wouldn't really want to run into Sid though.

Rich: Do you have any ideas for any other comics?

Kambrea: Yes. We have a couple of ideas. One idea is from 11 years ago and I may be starting it shortly. Thom has a couple of really good ideas as well. Finding the time is the problem.

Rich: Where does your inspiration come from?

Kambrea: For me it comes from books, anime, and movies.

Rich: What comic other than your own would you most like to write?

Kambrea: I really don't know. I am a big Star Wars fan so anything like that would be great!

Rich: What would you like to do next in your comic career?

Kambrea: I don't know. I never really thought about it. I always looked at Kneon as the one with the "comic career." I am considering doing one story I have as a webcomic and then one shot graphic novel.

Rich: If you could have one super power what would it be and why?

Kambrea: I always have wanted to fly. Growing up my parents ran the local airport and I was around planes all the time. As a child I used to dream about flying (and I still do.)

Rich: How can someone contact you?

Kambrea: I can be reached on the Shadowbinders facebook page or via email, contact@shadowbinders.com.

Rich: Any words for the readers of "Shadowbinders"?

Kambrea: I really hope you like the story! It is going to be one heck of a ride!
