Comments: Sable and Rat are two of the prisoners here among others. They were trying to escape.
Than we watch a match as Monkey faces Cube. These are fights to the death.
The heroes here are all unknowns. The battles are really short. So its over before it starts. The artwork is gritty looking.
The various super-heroes do have a great range of powers and abilities.
Listening in as the Supes talk and try to figure this out is interesting. Sable comes across as the one who might figure why this is all happening and who is behind it all. She is a Batman like character. There are some characters similar to DC and Marvel ones as well as original ones.

Comments: Dragonfly thinks about how Meridian was such a hero how he saved his fellow hero and friend Berserk. Today though he killed him.
The match now is Hater vs Mutate. One a hero who does what has to be done and the other a creature of peace. Even a being of peace can be forced to kill.
The heroes make some headway and figure out who is behind these deathmatches.
Next the Collective vs Meridian. This match Meridian literally rips his opponent in half. It is ultra violent.
Professor Hieronymus Higgins vs Sable. This battle gets interesting and looks to last longer than the others.
The characters the more you learn about them the more you care about them. You do learn a little more each issue. Some are featured more than others such as Dragonfly and Sable. They do become favorites.

Comments: Sable and the Professor are matched up this time. She is tough and he is smart.
Now there is something going on here, some mystery. A few of the prisoners know what but will not or cannot say.
Rat battles Abnormal Girl in the arena. It is a fight to the death. Rat is a weird character but likable.
The major problem here is that not enough is going on as regards to to story we need to start learning more. Yes a mystery is good but you need some clues to solving it.
The art is ok but could certainly use some more excitement in it. Poses should be something to catch your eye but you do not get that here.
Dragon Fly a super-hero comes across as the most normal person here. He is someone you would like immediately.

Comments: The heroes, the supes are now for the most part working together towards a common goal of escape. They get a chance and make their attempt. All most seem interested in doing is fighting among themselves. Only Rat has the right idea that they should work together.
Most of this story makes no sense. Near the end Meridian steps in like he is running things. Is he?
It is great to have all these super-heroes and villains at each others throats and trying to work together.

Comments: Omni-Engine is features this issue. He seems to know the most about what is going on.
The field of combatants gets lessened yet again. Another hero bites the dust. We see even a Rat can beat a sun god.
Mink vs Melody gives us two babes duking it out. Power is not all that counts and even the smarter ones can be outsmarted.
Some mysteries are revealed and more are added. Who, what, why are questions that need to be answered soon.
All the characters do interact well to bring across a story filled with emotion. The heroes and villains alike are out of their normal surroundings and are all uneasy, afraid and unsure what to do.

Comments: Dragonfly takes on Meridian. Dragonfly learns a lot about Meridian. But does any of it help the prisoners.
The next quarterfinal battle is short lived. Melody Toon vs Nephilim. The sadistic babe blasts the monsterous creature.
Nest is Shadow Runner vs Manchurian, its magic vs mind. The Manchurian a man of science does the unexpected here.
Next up is Sable vs Chuckles. This universe's versions of Batman and the Joker. There battle goes as you would expect except with Chuckles being a much nicer and intelligent guy than you might expect.
All the battles are to short and the story needs some explaining as to what is really going on. The art is ok but nothing really special.
Dragonfly is the one super-hero you will be routing for.

Comments: The heroes and villains seem to have accepted the fact they are going to die. They are losing their will to live.
Meridian battles the Anti-Meridian here. It is a battle of the superman. It is a massacre as one is ripped apart literally.
Next its Sable vs Omni-Engine. This fight is like Batman vs Iron Man. This fight goes a little differently than expected. Both combatants respect each other so much.
The survivors are growing less soon it will be the final round. What will happen when only one survives? There are still a lot of mysteries here that need solving.

Comments: In the Deathmatches it is now down to only six left alive. Sable thinks she has finally figured out who is behind it all.
The Deathmatch here is Melody Toon vs Manchurian. Melody is one hard hitter. She is on the hunt and shown is one gorgeous pose as she is ready to give it her all. Manchurian though is one of the most intelligent people alive.
Next its Cube vs Dragonfly. Dragonfly's armour is kinda dull looking. Cube pulls out some surprises and so does Dragonfly.
We get to learn who is controlling things here. Well maybe we do. The mysterious side of the story is suspenseful and the battles well everyone enjoys a great super powered battle.

Comments: Manchurian is behind it all and his reason is still a mystery.
Here Manchurian battles Sable. The computer setting of the battle field looks great. The colors are outstanding.
Well we do get an explanation for all that has been going on but it really makes no sense. Well actually in a strange warped way it does make sense or does it?
The ending does leave you wanting more.

Comments: Manchurian used the others to achieve his goal. He was successful in achieving one goal but he has more. Sable and Dragonfly are the only heroes left with him.
The art has a vague, even smoshed look to it.
Dragonfly and Sable do put up a great fight against each other. The ending may not have been exactly as Manchurian planned but the final ending is.
The final to this mini series will leave you thinking Dragonfly is one great hero. Only problem is is he good enough. The cliffhanger ending after twelve issues kind of sucks.
Dragonfly though is definitely someone you will like and route for.
