Title: Harrow County # 1
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Writer: Cullen Bunn
Artist: Tyler Crook
Price: $ 3.99 US
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Comments: Hester Beck was a witch. She was a good helpful witch but than things started to change. The towns folk took action. Hester died a horrible death. Did she deserve it well maybe.
Present day we see Emmy. She is a trouble girl. The crooked oak tree where the witch was killed now looks like a thing waiting for some unsuspecting soul.
The art style has a rough edge to it which makes it more realistic.
Emmy starts to show signs that she may be just like Hester. Than the really weird and strange happens. Emmy for sure knows something is happening but what exactly is a mystery still.
"Tales of Harrow County: Baptism" is written by Cullen Bunn with art by Owen Gieni. Getting a baptism here can leave one with a mystery. This is a really short tale that does provide a touch of horror.

Comments: A Haint now what is a Haint. Emmy is a cute girl but you can tell as she carries the Haint she is not ordinary. A Haint is a unnatural creature that appears to be just skin.
Something is going on here and Emmy is the center of it. This is a weird and strange story filled with weirdness.
The graveyard scene is a creepy frightening one. It is illustrated dark and scary. What comes out to greet Emmy and her companions though will leave you fearful. This scene is like something out of a horror movie.
The pin-up in the back is a innocent scene with a chilling twist.

Comments: In a spooky graveyard late at night ghostly skeletons come out.
Emmy is a witch who is trying to escape her fate. Her own father wants to kill her. Why?
Emmy is having to go through a lot here. She has lost her home. her father wants her dead, she is on the run. she finds out she is a witch with powers that could be used for evil. She though is controlling her fate not others.
The emotions she feels you will to as they are illustrated so powerfully.
In the dark woods where Emmy is dark evil things lurk only she may be the darkest of all.
A gorgeous pinup is presented after the main story. It is beautiful and scary with a sexual side.
"Tales of Harrow County: All Hallows' Eve" This is a short story one page long and it is frightening with scary art. You will be glad Harrow County is not real.

Title: Harrow County # 4
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Writer: Cullen Bunn
Artist/Lettering: Tyler Crook
Price: $ 3.99 US
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Comments: A young girl alone in the dark woods with a vile evil monster sneaking up on her. What could be more scary? Nothing.
Emmy is found by a monstrous dark creature but there is more to it than meets the eye. It has a past with Emmy.
Emmy does remember who she was and is now. Some people are not going to like that. Some really do not when she addresses the villagers. She is strong and realizes she has always been so. Emmy can handle herself and those she created. She is like their God.
The art is so beautifully done and matches the type of story presented here perfectly. It does have a haunting quality.
Emmy does become better than who she was and than after she grows up things are different. The ending is amazing in its unexpectedness.

Title: Harrow County # 5

"Tales of Harrow County" Written/Art: Tyler Crook
Pinup Art: Cat Farris
Price: $ 3.99 US
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Website: www.darkhorsecomics.com
Comments: Emmy is getting treated well by the towns folk. She has become the local monster buster.
Emmy does have a way with Haunts.
The art is perfect for this story. The Haunt here is illustrated as a small scary creature. Also you will see the creature is to be pitied some to.
Emmy is a witch and a powerful one but she is new to it. She is learning and she is different than the last one. She is still a cute little girl but you see that she can become angried.
"Tales of Harrow County: The Bat House" One creepy looking house greets the reader here. This is only a one page story which does get right to the point, bats can be dangerous creatures. So stay away from them.
Harrow County is not a place to live for the faint of heart.

Comments: A storm raging outside on a dark and dreary night. It sets the mood for this comic.
Emmy has a twin from the city. The way she is shown and written you know there is something going on with her.
Emmy and Kammi may be twin sisters but they do seem different. Kammi has a sinister side that comes out in a most vile evil way. Kammi is definitely not like her sister.
You know horror has come to Harrow County and it is here to stay.
"Tales of Harrow County: The Hunter" Being a hunter in Harrow County is not like anywhere else. In this short wordless story you see having a gun is not enough. Terror lurks any and everywhere here.

Title: Harrow County # 7

Comments: Kammi is out for a walk in the countryside. There is some nice green scenery here that is colored lovely. The Haunt she lures out is a frightening creature that would make you run screaming from it. Than Kammi visits another horror and still more. It is like she is making friends with these creatures. The worst thing of all is that you are left with no doubt that she is the most evil of them all.
Kammi finds an old barn now this scene is desolute. You get a feeling of loneliness from the drawing.
Emmy and Kammi do have a confrontation. These two twin sisters may look alike but they definitely are not alike.
"Tales of Harrow County: Daughters" This short tale really has no plot other than even if you have some horrible accidents happen to you you can still be happy.

Title: Harrow County # 8

"Tales of Harrow County" Script: Tyler Crook
"Tales of Harrow County" Art: Simon Roy

Comments: The art is gorgeous in a creepy way. The haints are hauntingly illustrated.
Emmy and Kammi may be twins but they are way different in nature. Kammi tries to kill Emmy and they each have haunts doing their bidding.
Kammi attacks Emmy and the two sisters do get into a fight. The winner will be the one with the greater will. Both these girls are fighters just one though fights to keep her life as it is while the other fights to be able to rule.
Emmy is such a country girl and so sweet that it is hard to think of her as a witch.
"Tales of Harrow County: Mold" This short tale does not have much to it. It really does not make much sense. The only meaning I guess would be that even mold in Harrow County is weird.

Title: Harrow County # 9

Script: Cullen Bunn
Art: Carla Speed McNeil

"Tales of Harrow County" Script: Tyler Crook

Comments: One weird guy comes to town and he is not just weird but sick. He and the haunts are all illustrated to give a strange feel to this comic that will have you on edge not sure what to expect next.
This guy seems to be trying to control the haunt. He wants to turn it against Emmy. It is surprising to see the haunt acting as it does. It may not be alive nor dead but it is shown and written to have feelings. It is like a half person and than half again in skin and a bone/flesh frame. The creature is to be pitied.
So who is this mysterious man come to town? It is obvious he knows about the witch Emmy and her surroundings.
The atmosphere set by the artwork is creepy/soreful/weird all of these and more. You will feel unsettled reading this comic.
"Tales of Harrow County: Friends" This is one weird tale that shows such an imagination in creating it. You will not see this one coming.

Comments: There are dark things and goings on in this part of the world.
Emmy and her friend Bernice split up and this issue has Bernice as its focus. Bernice needs more personality. She is a dull girl. She does like to help others though.
Lovely is a lady that lives out in the woods and is said to lure people to her home. Lovely does seem to like snakes. Is she another witch though or something else?
You will not having Emmy in this issue more. There is a mystery we are left with, what is going on with Uncle Early and that snake.
"Tales of Harrow County: The Butcher" This is a short twp page story that makes no sense and the art is way to dark its hard to make out anything.

Title: Harrow County # 11

"Tales of Harrow County" Script: Tyler Crook
"Tales of Harrow County" Art: Kate Leth

Comments: A boy and girl are spying on a witch, Lovey in the dead of night. Bernice and Clinton do not know what they behold. All things are not as they seem at first sight.
The art has a pastel look to it that works well on this magic filled book. The magic though is not all good.
Bernice ends up on a mission to save others from evil. Hester Beck creates evil and influences others with her vile snakes. Bernice though proves that there is always someone willing to stand up and do whats right.
"Tales of Harrow County: Haint Train" This is a spooky little story that will have you looking at trains a little more closely as they approach in the distance.

Title: Harrow County # 12

Script: Cullen Bunn
Art: Hannah Christenson

"Tales of Harrow County" Script: Tyler Crook
"Tales of Harrow County" Art: Kel McDonald
Price: $ 3.99 US

Comments: Emmy goes to Creech's Crossing. Emmy wants to help others. So why not start with a haunted house. The family is in need of help especially the children.
The art has a vague style and it blends the characters into the backgrounds with them standing out just enough. The ghosts are illustrated as scary little things. The coloring makes them appear to be glowing.
Emmy is a character with special abilities and here we see them in use. Her ghost hunting goes a ways off the grid. She does not find what she thought she would.
"Tales of Harrow County: The Holler" Be careful how and what you call in Harrow County. This short tale does raise the hairs on your neck. It gets you wondering just what might come for you.
This series is a horror lovers delight.

Comments: A young boy wondering in the cornfield has a strange feeling that he is not alone. Clinton goes missing and Bernice and Emmy go searching for him.
The suspense keeps building as Bernice and Emmy search for Clinton. You will be waiting to find out what happened and what will happen.
Bernice came prepared as if she knew exactly what she would be facing. Emmy surprisingly was not much help. That was a huge surprise.
The art is gorgeously done showing off Harrow County and its citizens. It gives a creepy feel to this comic.
Emmy is learning more about herself and her abilities. She is also learning she has more family as one creepy guy shows up at just the right or wrong time.
"Tales of Harrow County: The Butler" The art is vague and the coloring done like a wash. Miss Kammi you are given a brief glimpse of her evil here.

Comments: This issue starts out showing us Emmy as a baby. Her mother sure seems nervous and afraid around Emmy. She did love her to bad Emmy had to grow up without her. You can see and feel the love just that it is mixed with something else.
Now in the present Emmy meets a man that says they are related. He does bring along one interesting companion to. The Meeting Lodge that springs up out of nowhere is a huge mansion. It is there for Emmy and her 'family' to use. It is a lovely illustration. The people she meets there her 'family' are a weird bunch.
Emmy is a complicated character.
"Tales of Harrow County: The Butler" Miss Kammi's creations band together when she abandons them. She is evil and does not care about her creations at all when she is done with them that's it she is done. You might feel some pity for these things. She does not.

Comments: Hester is a witch and uses her powers to create life not death. Emmy is basicly the reincarnation of Hester. Emmy learns a little more about who she really is. She has a 'family' of people with abilities.
The art can be a bit vague but it seems to fit this type of story.
Each of Emmy's 'family'; Odessa, Levi, Mildred, Willa, Kaine and Corbin make up this family. They are a weird group and their powers so vastly different. They are here to help Emmy but is it really help, they want to tell her how she can use her abilities. They want her to obey their rules. Will she? They want even more as it turns out. What will Emmy do?
"Tales of Harrow County: The Butler" Miss Kammi's creations of men without her are acting on their own. They are thinking and feeling about being abandoned and who abandoned them. The plot thickens.

Comments: The art is to pasty looking. It normally is pasty and fits the comic but here it is a little to much.
Emmy is at odds with her 'family' they want to totally change her life and the lives of all she knows.
The Family are cold. They think what is best for them and what they think is best for Emmy. They do not care what Emmy thinks. Well Emmy cares what Emmy thinks and she still has friends.
The creature in the woods the big bad monster it appears is more than just that. So we get a mystery.
The Family did not realize when they came to Harrow County they came to Emmy's place. Its her home.
Emmy is filled with a vast power. Here she uses it and makes her will very clear to the Family. Leave her and Harrow County alone. It is so great to see her stand up to them and put them in their place.
"Tales of Harrow County: The Butler" Miss Kammi has a lot of her creations that want her dead. Not all of them though since some that she keeps close and one in particular is loyal to her. This short story does not have a lot to it and the art is so pasty and lightly colored it does not stand out at all. Miss Kammi's evil is hardly felt here.

Comments: We get a look at the biggest and baddest Haint in the woods. He is illustrated as a big dark creature. Emmy now though is not afraid of him. Emmy is illustrated as a cute simple girl. One who has power though. Her attitude lets you know that.
As you read this story you can just feel it in the background. Horror lives here.
Emmy is clearly the star of this comic but it is nice to see other characters featured as well.
Not a lot happens this issue. We get a look back at the big dark creature, the Haint. He seems more than just a Haint though.
"Tales of Harrow County: The Tithe" This is one great short tale of terror. Be careful what you take cause it just might get taken back.

Comments: When the Lodge calls a Conclave its members come. Now all the strange and powerful members respond to its call.
Emmy learns more about the Family. Malachi now he was like God or Geppetto he created the Family. Hester was his greatest creation as she was almost human.
This story can be hard to follow totally. It is though like a horror story slowly unfolding. The terror of it creeps up on you.
Wow the ending here is a complete surprise and it will totally stun you. You will never see this one coming.
Emmy has her whole world rocked. Not just by one stunning fact but by two. This issue reveals so much you will not want to miss it.
"Tales of Harrow County: Priscilla" The art is gorgeously done. The Haint is illustrated in black and white with grey shading that gives it an evil appearance. The story though lets you know it is not evil. The face of this thing is a contradiction. Its overall look says monster but the eyes say peaceful creature.

Comments: Emmy is adjusting to being a reincarnation of Amaryllis. Which is better than Hester. Amaryllis was the most powerful of her kind.
The art is beautifully done. The country side and the buildings look so quaint. Emmy is illustrated as a cute girl and not the almost godlike being she really is.
There are out of town hunters in Harrow County. There hunting a monster. The monster the Lord of Beasts though is not so easy to capture.
Luke one of the hunters finds himself out in the woods all alone. Well not all alone for in the shadows haints abound.
Emmy may be a cute little girl but she is the most frightening thing about this comic. It is all about what she could do.
"Tales of Harrow County: Priscilla" This is a short part of the story. It does let you know something is going on and that it is not good. Goblins are around.

Title: Harrow County # 20
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Script: Cullen Bunn
Art, Lettering and Cover: Tyler Crook
"Tales of Harrow County" Script: Tyler Crook
"Tales of Harrow County" Art: Aud Koch
Price: $ 3.99 US
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Comments: The hunting hounds are illustrated so realistically and you will just love seeing these dogs. The black creature the Lord of Beasts is a frightening thing. They find some haints and the battle is on for a human boy's life. These creatures do get violent and bloody.
Emmy is a caring girl as is shown by her looking after Luke. The way though some act around her you can easily see she is to be feared. Yes she has power. Her twin Kammi is still out there somewhere and causing trouble.
The story is done differently than any other horror comic and the characters are laid back but with a horror that boils up and over. You will be scared.
It lists a "Tales of Harrow County" at the start of this issue but there is none. A mistake was made in either listing it or leaving it out.
