Comments: This first issue has Josie singing and maybe getting ready to start her own band.
Melody Jose's roommate is illustrated as looking kind of plain. Just an average blonde girl. She is shown not to bright but with a big heart.
Valerie works at an animal shelter and she can sing and sing fantastic. She is drawn so well.
There are lots of sexual references here. Surprising to see in an Archie comic. The brief appearance of Jughead and Hotdog was cool.
Melody it is mentioned has a female father. It is fine that Archie comics wants to be more prolific in gay matters but they should not over due it.
Josie learns that for a band to be good it has to be a band and not just her. This is a great start for this all new updated version of Josie and the Puss ycats. The Puss ycats Rock!
The backup story where for the first time the group became a group way back when. "Puss y Footing" written by Dick Malmgren, pencils by Dan DeCarlo, inks Rudy Lapick and letters Bill Yoshida.
The band is formed and they are well received. The Puss ycats are a sensation and will only move on to bigger and better things. The girls cat outfits are first seen here to and they are drawn gorgeous in them.

Comments: Josie and the Puss ycats are on the road to success. There first live concert though is not as glamorous as Josie expected.
The girls are updated in looks and the story is modernised as well.
The girls get into some trouble and plan to fix it by drag racing. Its Puss yacts vs Bikers. The race does have a few exciting moments and a few very weird hard to follow ones. It is fun following them.
Melody is portrayed as an airhead in some things.
The Puss ycats do make a great band and even better friends.
The back-up story "Brawn Is Beautiful" Script Frank Doyle, pencils Dan DeCarlo, inks Rudy Lapick and letters Bill Yoshida. This story focuses on Alex and Alan and how they fit in with the Puss ycats. They do have a rivelry going on for Josie. Both though are basically good guys. It is a good story with nice art.

Comments: Alexandra looks so cute as she makes her grand entrance on the beach. She looks like a super-hero of course she is not. She steals the show from Jose and the Puss ycats.
Alexandra does have it out for Josie. She will go to any length to ruin Josie's day.
Alexandra though is not a criminal so her and Josie shut down a animal smuggler. They do look good in bikinis in a jet ski chase.
This issue explains the hatred Alexandra holds for Josie in a new light. She actually has a point. Maybe she is not as bad as was thought or as wrong to be upset with Josie and hold a grudge. This is an amazing character development twist. The interaction between these two is a surprise and so enjoyable.
This issue will have you looking at Josie in a different way.
From 1971 Josie and the Puss ycats # 56 "The Early Worm Gets The Bird" Script by Frank Doyle, pencils by Dan DeCarlo, inks Rudy Lapick, letters by Bill Yoshida and colors by Barry Grossman.
A day at the beach for the girls takes them on a wide ride. You will not believe the trouble they get into.
This comic and the new updated version of Josie and all the other characters has them better than ever. It is fun, entertaining and grabs your interest. You will love every minute of this comic.

Comments: The Puss ycats are fighting some jewelry thieves.
Alan M is way different here than what he used to be like in the Archie Digests. He is suave and sophisticated. He and Josie do have fun together getting romantic and more with each other.
Alan M is also one of the stupidest people alive. Well as he is shown here and what he does. He is an uncaring idiot.
Josie here does step up and decide what she wants in life. Its not Alan.
The issue moves along but it is not as well connected throughout as it should be. The story suffers for it.
The characters of the band are fun and entertaining. These girls have cute personalities. You will love them.

Title: Josie and the Puss ycats # 5

Comments: Josie and Alan M are having some drama. He is portrayed as a total jerk were she is a sensitive kind caring person.
Felicity Mountain now this young girl is illustrated amazingly.
Poor Josie though things just do not work out for her. She has such high hopes and they seem to always get dashed.
What is up with the attitude from Josie? She is like a spoiled rotten child. She needs to get over herself. Plus this is a complete reversal to how she was acting earlier. Josie is written with mental problems.
Melody is shown so smart and insightful. She is definitely no dumb blonde.
Having the fourth wall being broken several times adds a cute touch.
Josie does a lot of emotional growing up in this issue.
This is definitely not the Josie from other comic series.
The story just keeps turning in directions that are totally unexpected. These Puss ycats are not your dad's. You will be surprised.

Comments: The Puss ycats are taken by Alexander to Cabotopia. The story is outlandish. Yes Alex has a mansion or more like a castle in the Antarctica complete with penguins and yes polar bears to.
The girls are on trial here for plagiarism. The story is silly in its presentation and the art is mediocre.
The references to the movie "Frozen" are just there and not really played up enough to make them overly funny. The same applies to the "Thing" movie references.
Alan M is one messed up guy. He is full of himself.
Melody now she is something else. You will not believe the things this girl comes out with or does.
We do see again very clearly that Josie did hurt Alexandra very badly. Josie did use her.
Well we are shown the power of friendship is a powerful thing. Alexandra gets to play hero and saves everyone including maybe even her own brother.
The story though is way over the top but still has its moments. You will enjoy reading this.
