Comments: Cornelius finds a ring. We get a look to at some Green Lanterns lead by Hal in battle. Sinestro has his own mission he wants the universal ring.
The art is to pasty in appearance. There is not much chance to show off the characters. The poses are bland.
Cornelius does end up using the ring he found but he did not do so on purpose he acted instinctively.
Blending these two comics together does not seem as if it is going to work out. Maybe as it goes go more it might and it gets into the story line and the characters start to interact.
None of the characters are focused on here. They are all just basically shown so you know who is in the story. You an tell Hal, Cornelius and Sinestro will be the main ones.

Comments: There is a Universal Ring and its alive and tapped into the emotional spectrum. The ring was sent to the Planet of the Apes Earth.
The story has apes treating Jordan just like apes did in the first movie. Apes think humans are just animals.
The gorilla shown is drawn well, his features pop out.
For the most part though the features of the characters are not sharp enough. They blend into each other way to much. At times it looks blurry.
Sinestro when he appears is drawn in a situation to show you he is evil.
As a rescue mission is readied Guy Gardner picks up one more member to go to this Planet of the Apes. He is the perfect one to go with them if he does not kill them. No he is illustrated quite well. He is impressive in his powerful demeanor.

Comments: Sinestro finds Dr. Zaius and Hal is with Zira, Cornelius and Dr. Milo. Sinestro and Hal are both after the same thing.
The gorilla army encounters a green/yellow lantern ring bearer. This ape leads an army of Forbidden Zone mutates. All the energy bolts shooting look great. The people and apes though are drawn with a smudged look.
Guy, Kilowog, Arisia and Gorilla Grodd all journey to the Planet of the Apes.
Atrocitus shows up to with a group of evil red lanterns. These aliens are illustrated to bring out their evil presence.
It is great seeing all these characters and they are all after one ring. They do not interact enough though.
The ending to this issue will leave you wondering.

Comments: Sinestro has a plan and he just keeps moving towards achieving it. He is one determined alien. He does not look as good in green as he does in yellow.
Hal is drawn a bit overweight. His body looks thicker than normal.
Cornelius has been corrupted by the universal ring. He wants to conquer the planet of the apes. With it the ring and with others to join him he may get his wish.
This issue takes a decidedly different turn as Gorilla Grodd makes his presence known. Grodd plus Red Lanterns equals big trouble.
The Planet of the Apes has a war brewing. It is not only apes vs humans its Lanterns vs Lanterns. This war could be the end of civilization as we know it.

Title: Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern # 5

Comments: Grodd wants them all to kneel to him, both humans and apes. Green and Red Lanterns are in one big battle. Hal, John, Guy are armed with rings and so are many apes.
Cornelius makes a fairly good Green Lantern.
There is fighting and action but it seems subdued. It happens but lacks emotion.
The entire comic is done in a low key way. The art looks good but it has nothing about it that stands out.
Sinestro makes a brief appearance and he is the hi-lite of the issue. Is he better than having Grodd in control? Who will get the ring that controls the other rings?
Hal and the other Green Lanterns are there but they all seem defeated in their attitudes. Sinestro is the only Lantern who comes across with attitude.

Comments: Well all the Lanterns are in a huge battle. Lots of aliens, humans and apes. It is an all out war.
The Universal Ring is more powerful than all the others. Hal and Sinestro must work together to stop a power mad ape.
The ending to this limited series leaves you hanging in more than one way. Lots of loose ends leave you feeling unsatisfied with how things end.
Cornelius does make a great Green Lantern he is willing to fight and die if necessary. He puts everything he has into it.
Having Hal and Sinestro working together is something you rarely see. Apes, aliens and humans all work together towards one goal. It is great though to see humans put in their place especially one.
